PET DTF film is a composite material, which is mainly developed to meet the needs of end customers for personalized hot stamping on clothing, glass cups, mobile phones, etc. After the end customer chooses to customize the pattern he likes, he tears off the release film attached to the hot melt adhesive coating, attaches the pattern to the substrate such as clothing and glass cups, and transfers the pattern to the substrate through high temperature hot pressing.
PET film is a non-absorbent substrate. Direct water-based digital printing process on PET film will cause technical problems such as poor ink absorption, ink flowing everywhere, and blurred pattern quality. Therefore, if you want to perform water-based digital printing on PET film, you must modify its surface to change it from a non-absorbent substrate to an absorbent substrate that can absorb water-based ink. Ink-absorbing coating is a water-based single-component white matte ink-absorbing coating. After a layer of ink-absorbing coating is applied on the basis of non-absorbent film, glass, metal, etc., it will form a uniform and stable water-based digital ink-absorbing layer on the surface of the substrate after self-drying at room temperature or high-temperature drying and curing. This coating can better absorb water-based digital printing ink, whether it is pigment ink or dye ink, prevent ink flow, improve pattern quality, and accelerate ink curing time.
Therefore, the production process of DTF film is:
1. Coat and cure a layer of silicone release layer on PET
2. Coat a layer of ink-absorbing coating on the release layer by a scraper coater, and dry and cure to form a water-based ink-absorbing layer
3. Perform water-based digital printing on the water-based digital ink-absorbing layer
4. Apply hot melt adhesive on the printed pattern, and form a hot melt adhesive bonding layer by high temperature curing
5. Compound a layer of release film on the hot melt adhesive bonding layer
6. The end customer tears off the release film, performs hot pressing on the clothing, and the pattern transfer is completed.
Compared with other thermal transfer methods, water-based digital printing white film heat transfer has the following performance advantages:
The printed pattern is more personalized, and customers can customize their favorite patterns at a low cost. They only need to simply edit on the computer to complete the pattern design, without the need for complex, inefficient and high-cost pattern design costs such as opening the screen and making plates
The water-based digital printing method uses water as a solvent, which is more environmentally friendly and meets the trend of environmental protection development
The pattern has good flexibility and is more mature and comfortable to use on clothing
General water-based digital inkjet printers on the market can be used, without the need for high-cost professional industrial printers, and the terminal cost is lower. Water-based digital printing ink-absorbing coating is a key raw material in the DTF film production process. Its rational use not only solves the technical problem of PET film absorbing ink, but also improves the ink curing time and pattern quality. It is an indispensable key raw material for DTF film production.
